Are you interested in supporting children and young people's mental health? We are looking for a number of dedicated individuals to join our Trustee Board.

Detailed description

About TIC+: TIC+ provides comprehensive support services to children and young people (aged 9-25), parents and professionals, including counselling (online, remote, and face-to-face), helplines, live online sessions and training programmes for counsellors at various levels, ensuring easy access to tailored support for individuals' needs. Over the past two years, we've provided 36,528 counselling sessions, addressing various issues like depression, anxiety, and self-harm.

Trustee Opportunity: As a Trustee, you'll play a crucial role in providing oversight and strategic direction to our work both in Gloucestershire and to help us expand across the country. With an expected time commitment of 4-12 hours per month, you'll contribute to board meetings, subcommittee meetings, and annual strategy sessions.

Chair Opportunity: In addition to the above, you’ll lead the Board and support and oversee the executive, ensuring effective strategic direction and oversight is provided by the Board. This role requires variable hours including regular meetings with the executive and attendance at relevant events.

Essential Criteria:

  • Commitment to TIC+'s mission
  • Genuine Christian faith
  • Relevant skills and experience
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Minimum age of 18

Priority Areas of Focus: Due to a number of Trustees reaching the end of their term at the same time, we will be appointing up to 7 new Trustees in this recruitment round. We are therefore seeking a variety of expertise and lived experience including:

  • Charity finance
  • Clinical skills in mental health
  • Growth and expansion strategies
  • Safeguarding
  • Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • Organisational culture and HR
  • Digital strategy
  • Fundraising

In order to diversify the viewpoints on our Board, we particularly welcome applications from people aged under 45, those with lived experience of the mental health care system for young people (whether personal or professional) and people of colour.

How to Apply: Please contact us for a full job pack, application form and diversity questionnaire. Applications close on March 4, 2024 at 10am.

About Tic+

TIC+ (Teens in Crisis) provides face-to-face, remote and online counselling services across Gloucestershire for young people aged 9-21 and their families.
Our mission is to improve, preserve and promote good mental health and well-being among young people and their families.
Our vision is that every young person has someone to turn to.
To that end, we have provided counselling for more than 3,100 children, young people and families last year and are currently experiencing unprecedented numbers of referrals.
It is estimated that 1 in 6 young people in England has a significant mental health illness, and that 75% of adults who suffer with mental illness first had symptoms before the age of 24. At TIC+ we are seeing an unprecedented rise in the numbers of young people referring into our service.
Mental health issues are one of the single biggest barriers to achieving academic potential, forming successful and healthy relationships and going on to live happy, resilient adult lives. Mental health remains one of the most misunderstood and underfunded areas of health. This means that although some children and young people will receive the help and support they need, many more will not.
TIC+ offer remote, online, and face to face counselling support. We listen to young people in a way that makes them feel accepted, safe, and valued so they can say what’s on their mind and be really listened to without the fear of being judged. A TIC+ counsellor will work with the young person, helping them develop life-long coping strategies and equip them to move forward.
We work really hard to raise funds to ensure that our service is FREE to every young person who needs counselling and asks for help. We, and all the young people and families we see, are so grateful for your support.
