About Tewkesbury Museum
Tewkesbury Museum is a small independent museum founded in 1962, currently run entirely by volunteers. We occupy a beautiful mid-C17th timber-framed building – an exhibit in its own right. We are accredited by the Arts Council.
Our vision is ‘to be the best small museum in Gloucestershire’ and out mission is to ‘collect and conserve artefacts and other objects with a strong connection to Tewkesbury and the surrounding area, and promote public knowledge of its history and heritage by displaying and interpreting a selection of these items.’
Our collection consists of around 7,000 objects or groups of objects and a similar number of paintings, prints and photographs. These are displayed in our six exhibition rooms or kept in store. They are recorded in a ‘Modes’ database.
As we don’t have any employees, so we always need lots of good volunteers! There are so many different things to do in a museum that there’s bound to be a role to suit you – so please get in touch!
