About HARE
HARE is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company focused on improving the well-being of people in the Forest of Dean, with a particular focus on children and families. We run events, crafts courses, walks in nature and children’s Forest school, based in our woodland near Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire. Find out more about us in our profile and on our website.
This role has the following benefits:
- You will have the opportunity to work within our staff team, where we offer a supportive work environment. We aim to create a caring and collaborative work environment where everyone feels safe, fully supported and not judged. We prioritise the well-being of our staff and volunteers.

- Volunteering for a non-profit enables you to make an impact in your local community.

What we will provide to volunteers
🤝 Extra supportAbout HARE
We run children and family workshops and craft workshops, events and retreats, incorporating mindful connection with nature, outdoor play, natural & heritage crafts and bushcraft. We manage our woodland sustainably, working with nature and being mindful of the endangered animals living on site. All our workshops are fully outdoors in our woodland, led by our experienced team members. We have a beautiful shelter over our fire circle and build other temporary shelters if it rains.
In 2023 & 2024 we ran:
- Forest Play - our weekly fully outdoor parent & toddler group.
- Forest School for home educated children, weekly group.
- Nurture in Nature - weekly well-being walks in the forest for new parents.
- Gardening for mental health in three local schools, funded by the NHS.
- Children's school holiday Forest Skills Workshops, with free places funded by HAF - funded by Gloucestershire County Council, through the Holiday Activities & Food scheme.
- Accessible Crafts - high ratio heritage crafts workshops for neurodiverse children, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
We've got lots of exciting plans for 2025. We would love you to join us to support our mission.
