We are looking for people who are passionate about championing the need for Rural Affordable Housing in their communities.

Key Roles of an Affordable Housing Champion:

1. Champion the cause of Affordable Housing:

Promote the concept and need for Affordable Housing within your community and with their wider networks. Connect with your Parish and Town Council and district councillor to promote the need for Affordable Housing. Connect to any community-led planning groups to help raise the profile of the need for Affordable Housing.

2. Act as a focal point for Rural Housing Enablers:

Liaise with our Rural Housing Enabler over housing needs and opportunities for promotion.

3. Marketing Housing Needs Surveys:

Liaise with current community marketing resources, to advertise when a Housing Needs Survey is being undertaken. Distribute Housing Needs Surveys amongst community groups and other community outlets such as shops, pubs, schools and local businesses. Encourage people with a local connection to the village to complete the form and apply for housing on Gloucestershire Homeseekers.

4. Identify anyone in the Parish with a housing need:

Connect to your community to identify anyone who is in housing need to encourage them to complete a Housing Need Survey.
