Summary

As a Drop-in Group Volunteer you will play an instrumental role in facilitating the drop-in groups. You will help create a safe space for service users.

Detailed description

Overview

At Change Grow Live our goal is to empower and enable people with drug and alcohol problems to increase their confidence in making better decisions, providing them with the resources and opportunity to create a better life for themselves. We believe groups are a great way to engage and connect with those who use our services. We, therefore, offer county-wide drop-in groups for all service users, and those who might be interested in engaging with CGL services, to meet in an informal setting and gain support and information from one other.

Responsibilities

It is often overwhelming for the people we support to make changes in their lives. You can help by donating your time as a Drop-In Group Volunteer. As a Drop-in Group Volunteer you will play an instrumental role in facilitating the drop-in groups. It will be your role to create a safe space for people to explore what the service offers and engage with other service users. This will include promoting CGL services and engaging with new and potential service users. You will be provided with training to support you to undertake this volunteering role. Drop-ins are running across the hubs countywide - Cheltenham, Gloucester, and Stroud, please state your preference within your application.

Key Activities:

  • Actively engage with new and potential service users promoting the benefits of the drop-in group and CGL services
  • Support and empower people to engage with the group
  • Help to create an appropriate, safe, and dynamic environment for a drop-in session
  • Assist in the preparation of refreshments for the drop-in group
  • Meet and greet people welcoming them into the group setting, talking, offering refreshments, and helping to alleviate anxieties
  • Act as a link between drop-in attendees and CGL staff as required

Please note that we require you to be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this volunteering role.

The safety of vulnerable children, young people and adults is our absolute priority. We will support you in your role to make sure that you are equipped to support the safety of people who use our services and those around them, to the highest standard possible.

About Change, Grow, Live

Our mission is to help people change the direction of their lives, grow as individuals, and live life to its full potential.

The vision we're working towards is to develop, deliver and share a whole person approach that changes society.
We exist to help people achieve their goals, to be the best that they can be and to help change society for the better. This is true whether we are talking about the people who use our services, our staff or our volunteers.

We are not in control of everything that impacts upon the people who use our services. However, we are in control of what we do, how we behave and where we focus our expertise, resources and energy.

Our aim is to work together to challenge stigma and oppression. We want our charity to be a place where our staff and people who use our services are respected and engaged. Ultimately we want to make life safer, easier and better for as many people as we can.
