Summary

Assist in the running of our open access youth space in Winchcombe.

Detailed description

About the role

We have a variety of roles available at our youth setting, including helping in the kitchen to prepare drinks / snacks, helping to run art / craft / cooking activities, helping to supervise games and activities or just generally chatting with young people.

It may involve summer holiday clubs, drop-ins, or going out into the community or on outings. If you have a special skill or interest, you could bring that along!

Currently we have our youth group running on Tuesday evenings from 16:00 - 17:30pm, but with more volunteers we would like to offer young people a safe and warm space to be in more regularly.

If you wish to proceed, we will ask you to complete an application form, undergo a DBS check, and invite you to interview. All being well, you will receive the necessary training, complete an induction, and start volunteering with WAM youth! We require a 6 month commitment from all volunteers.

This whole process should be completed in a few weeks. We look forward to having you join our team!

About WAM Youth

WAM Youth exists because we believe every child and young person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential in life whatever their circumstances or life experiences.

We believe that positive relationships and experiences are essential for young people but are not always accessible to them. We value children and young people as individuals and place them at the centre of what we do.

- To help children and young people to build healthy self-esteem and confidence so that in placing value on themselves and on others they are more likely to make behavioural choices that have a positive impact on themselves and those around them.
- To provide activities and safe spaces for children and young people to develop their social and emotional skills and improve physical health for a positive impact on their wellbeing.
- To provide outdoor activities which enable children and young people to learn to manage risk wisely.
- To build sustained positive relationships with children and young people so that they are empowered and motivated to develop positive behaviours.
