Summary
We need to clear bindweed and brambles from around our saplings.Detailed description
Keeping the saplings clear will allow them to establish well without too much competition from stronger plants. We also hope to spread bark chippings to help to protect the trees from drought.
About Green Abbey
Green Abbey: green spaces in Abbeydale and Abbeymead and the surrounding area. We are a network of people living in Abbeymead, Abbeydale, Barnwood and Coney Hill, who are interested in growing in appreciation for the fabulous green spaces that are dotted through our residential area. Events are one of two things: sometimes a work party such as the pruning of the Clocktower Park apple trees, and sometimes a community event, such as the annual Big Butterfly Count. We have strong links with Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and with the council green spaces team and are connected with the urban wildlife project, also with the friends of Barnwood Arboretum and Saintbridge Pond. We hope to grow in neighbourliness as we meet both the people and the creatures that share our home.
