Summary

Geotagging photos of central Cheltenham to Know Your Place Gloucester. This is a great opportunity to learn digital and heritage skills while working from home

Detailed description

This pilot project, that we hope to expand once complete, is aimed at making archive collections accessible to the public through the Know Your Place Gloucestershire platform. If you are unfamiliar with this website, it is a fantastic resource, that layers historic maps of the county on top of each other, allowing for seamless comparison.

There are also information layers, which consist of heritage collections geotagged to their relevant location on the map. This is where you will be working, to create a new image layer of photographs depicting Cheltenham during the COVID lockdowns.

You will be provided with an image set, an accompanying spreadsheet with descriptive data for you to copy across, full written instruction and support by email / phone whenever required.

Its a great opportunity to learn and improve digital skills and work with spreadsheets and digital photographs. Its a fascinating collection, which really reminds us of the community spirit that was so prevalent during the pandemic.

Please note that while spaces are limited, this is a pilot that we hope to expand upon and create more spaces on a rolling basis.
