Detailed description

Role Purpose

To create a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment for unpaid Carers attending the Carers Café in Lydney. This role is vital in helping Carers feel valued, connected, and informed about the support available through the Gloucestershire Carers Hub.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and Greet Carers: Be the friendly face of the Carers Café, ensuring all attendees feel acknowledged and comfortable.
  • Facilitate Connection: Encourage conversation and connection among Carers, helping to foster a sense of community and mutual support.
  • Signposting: Provide information about the Gloucestershire Carers Hub and other relevant services, helping Carers access the support they need.
  • Point of Contact: Act as a liaison between Carers and the Carers Hub team, raising any concerns or feedback as appropriate.
  • Create a Safe Space: Help maintain a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere where Carers can take a break from their caring responsibilities.

  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by unpaid carers (training provided)

Training & Support

Volunteers will receive induction training and ongoing support from the Volunteer Coordinator and the Gloucestershire Carers Hub team. All volunteers will be required to have a DBS check which we will pay for. All volunteers have to complete online training, which is very informative and has lots of useful information that will help them in their volunteering role. (Amazing for any volunteers looking to add significant training to their CV)
