We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers (aged 17 and over) to help support our Summer Playscheme, working with children and families.
Cirencester Opportunity Group is an independent charity, working holistically with children, parents, and carers, providing early years education and support for families. We have offered a specialist, inclusive and nurturing learning environment for over 50 years.
We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers (aged 17 and over) to help support our Summer Playscheme, working with children up to 8 years old and their families, alongside our Team of staff.
Our Playscheme will operate over 3 days each week from 28th July - 20st August 2026, 9.30am to 1.30pm, running on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays over this 4 week period.
By giving approximately 4 hours of your time for each day you are available to volunteer, you will be helping to support activities for children up to 8 years of age.
COG’s Summer Playscheme supports families to engage with and enjoy activities over the school summer holidays. This period of time can seem very long and overwhelming for families with young children, who may not be able to access summer activities or holidays. We offer a variety of fun activities including craft, play, sports, and outdoor adventure, as well as providing a healthy snack and lunch to children. We provide a safe and nurturing environment at our specialist centre for families to make friends and enjoy our beautiful grounds. Staff are on hand to offer support to parents/carers where needed and can offer advice and signpost other organisations with whom we have links.
You would support children with craft activities which may involve simple 'cutting and sticking', painting or modelling, for example. Perhaps some planting of seeds into pots or supporting play in our sandpit. We may ask you to make drinks and prepare snacks/lunch for children and provide a friendly listening ear to parents and carers.
We would love to hear from you, so please do get in touch if you are interested in this rewarding opportunity.

About Cirencester Opportunity Group
We are here for both young children and their families, offering a warm, welcoming space where everyone feels valued, supported, and understood. Our work is centred on building strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers, recognising that when families feel confident and supported, children are better able to thrive. A significant number of the children we support have additional needs, and we work closely with families to ensure these are met with care, understanding, and expertise.
Our Family Support Team plays a key role, offering a range of services tailored to each family’s needs. This includes welcoming activity sessions for parents and children to enjoy together, alongside small group and one-to-one support. We provide a listening ear, practical guidance, and help families access further services where needed, creating a strong network of support around them.
Within this nurturing environment, children benefit from a broad and balanced, play-based curriculum, tailored to meet the special and additional needs of each child. Through a mix of adult-guided and child-led activities, we support each child’s development and help them grow in confidence and resilience as they work towards the next stage of their lives, ensuring they move on with the right support in place to provide appropriate opportunities for lifelong learning and success.
Applications closing in 4 months.
