Summary

CCP's annual Hamper Scamper campaign seeks to relieve some of the financial and emotional burdens of the festive season on families and individuals

Detailed description

Many of those who receive a hamper will be families and individuals living on the brink of homelessness and struggling to afford food and heating alongside the expectations of the festive season. Others may be isolated adults and young people, with no friends or family to celebrate this special time of year with.

Hamper Scamper 2021 saw a significant increase in demand following recent benefit cuts, increased fuel prices, supermarket shortages, and ongoing unemployment as we recover from the biggest challenge of our lifetime. Over the last 18 months, we have seen requests for emergency food double!

To provide this service, we rely on the generosity of our community for donations of basic food items through to festive provisions, including quality gifts for children.

How can you help?

There are several ways you, your fellow students and colleagues can support CCP’s Hamper Scamper appeal:

  • organising a food collection for hampers (please see food donation poster attached)
  • purchasing a gift for a child

About CCP - Caring for Communities and People

As a charity delivering services across the South West, CCP prevents the causes, and reduces the effects, of homelessness, family breakdown and social isolation. Last year we supported 9,926 people to access:
• safe, stable accommodation to young people, children in care and vulnerable adults
• support to avoid someone losing their home
• family support to parents feeling overwhelmed
• social and friendship groups to avoid, or come out of, isolation.
• affordable food and other essentials through our Community Pantry

With a head office in Cheltenham, we currently employ 270 staff, backed up by a team of 65 volunteers, and deliver services and projects in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Wiltshire, Devon and Dorset.
