Volunteer Assistant Café Manager

You will be a key part of our volunteer team, working to provide excellent service and ensure the smooth running of our café.

This is a part-time role, which is subject to a degree of flexibility, 2 hours per day from 11:30am – 1:30pm, Monday to Thursday, plus one hour a month for a Café team meeting on a Thursday.

Responsibilities:

· Assist in the smooth running of café operations, ensuring excellent customer service during working hours.

· Leading volunteers on lunch service, ensuring consistency and quality of food and drinks.

· Supervise and support café staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.

· Manage inventory and maintain adequate stock levels during shifts.

· Oversee cash handling, including operating the till.

· Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in line with health and safety regulations.

· Step into the role of Café Manager as required, overseeing the full operation during holiday cover.

Training will be provided; however, the following skills are preferred:

· Previous experience in a similar role or within hospitality is preferred.

· Barista experience is desirable.

· Strong background in food preparation and culinary practices.

· Proven skills in team management and leadership, with the ability to motivate staff effectively.

· Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices is essential.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service.

· Flexibility to provide additional cover when required.

· Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
