A Million Acts of Hope

(13 - 20 May 2026)

Between 13 and 20 May 2026, hundreds of other charities, communities and faith groups will be coming together to celebrate the everyday acts of kindness, care and connection that take place every day.

At Go Volunteer Glos, we're surrounded by fantastic organisations and incredible volunteers doing this hope-building work every day. Between 13 and 20 May 2026, we'll be:

  • Promoting volunteer roles through Go Volunteer Glos
  • Reposting and sharing social posts about A Million Acts of Hope activities taking place across Gloucestershire to help to bring everyone together and share the news.

What are Acts of Hope?

Hope is there in every cup of tea poured in a community centre and every friendly voice on the end of a helpline.

It’s there in every person who collects a prescription when their neighbour’s

stuck at home.

It’s there in every kids’ football ref, in every helper at every toddler drop-in, in everyone who donates to food banks when they do the weekly shop.

It’s there in every book left for a stranger on a train, and in every bag of rubbish picked on every beach or park.

It’s there in everyone who wants to make life a little easier for others - or that bit brighter.

Being a hopeful isn’t always about doing something major or momentous (though sometimes small acts can have a big impact).

It’s about doing something that shows you won’t give up.

Would you like to volunteer for an Act of Hope?

Don't forget to share your acts via social media using the hashtags #MillionActsOfHope and #GoVolunteerGlos

Or why not create your own Act of Hope?

We'd love you to take part in whichever way works for you! Why not try one of these acts...

Pick up some litter

Helping to keep your community clear of litter helps us all to have a bit more pride in where we live, and is beneficial to wildlife.

Do something nice for someone else

Letting another car out at a junction, holding a door open for someone, or letting someone in a rush go in front of you at the checkout all help to make our community a nicer place to be.

Make a donation

Give something to someone who needs it. This could be money, or items requested by your local foodbank, babybank or other charities.

Grow to show

Whether it's a front garden or windowsill, why not grow something beautiful and cheerful to brighten the day of passersby?
