Summary

We are looking for Digital Champion volunteers to support people who struggle to use everyday digital technology like smartphones, apps and the online world.

Detailed description

Our Digital Champion volunteers play a vital role in supporting individuals who face challenges accessing or using digital technology. Our volunteers offer one-to-one or small group assistance across established community groups and through IT drop ins.

Digital Champions help participants build confidence in using devices such as smartphones, tablets, or computers, and navigate the online world safely and independently. You do not need to be a technical whizz kid, simply know the basics and have a desire to support people to access the digital world.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others and wants to make a real difference in reducing digital exclusion within the community.

The Churn Project is currently looking for volunteers in the Cirencester and Tetbury areas. But you would be part of a Gloucestershire wide Digital Champion Network with lots of support and training available through the Gloucestershire Digi Hubs initiative.

About The Churn Project

The Churn Project has been supporting people across the community in Cirencester and nearby villages since 2001.

Our aims are to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing, particularly for those who are lonely, at a point of crisis or transition in their lives, or experiencing poverty or mental health issues. Our vision is that all our residents are included and involved in their community, feel supported and valued and have the opportunity to achieve their potential. We support over 1,500 people each year, focusing on older people, young families and those who are suffering from mental health, poor wellbeing and social isolation. We offer a mix of one to one support and group activities, catering to different interests and needs.

We work with people to help find practical solutions to the issues they face. Many tell us that coming to The Churn Project improves their wellbeing and makes them feel less isolated.
