About Soundabout

Music is a universal language and a tool of expression for those who communicate using means other than words. We believe that everyone should be able to access and experience music. Since registering as a charity in 1997, Soundabout’s approach has provided opportunities for Learning Disabled people with complex support needs to enjoy making music with their families, peers, and communities throughout the country. We offer a wide range of music making and training opportunities, online and in-person around the country, that enhance wellbeing, communication, community, self-expression, and enjoyment. We focus on what individuals can do and follow their lead. Last year, we ran 962 music making sessions alongside 1,576 Learning Disabled people. Our Soundabout Choirs are musical communities without barriers for people all ages and all abilities, with a focus on giving a voice to Learning Disabled people with complex support needs.
