About the role
Our Box Office Volunteer serves patrons who would like to buy tickets on the door. Kings uses a system called Ticketsource and training can be provided for this. If you enjoy talking to people and handling money then this is a great role for you. You will be joining a fab team who love the theatre.
Once on duty a Box Office Volunteer will ensure that the computer system and card machine is switched on and working. You will need to count the float and make sure it is correct. Kings uses a system called Ticketsource. For each performance you just follow the onscreen instructions, choosing the number of tickets required, finding seats for customers and then going through the payment screens.
Once the doors open at 7pm, you will serve patrons taking them through the above ticket purchasing process. We take cash or card payments. Once the performance starts, you will need to print of a report for all ticket purchases and calculate any cash taken. Once complete you will be able to talk to other volunteers, getting to know them. During the interval you will be required to check the auditorium, clearing any empty cups, mugs or glasses and generally help with any other front of house tasks. After the interval, you can again sit and get to know the other volunteers. If we have a tribute band, we usually keep the bar running, so our volunteers can enjoy the music too! In case of a fire, the Box Office Volunteer is responsible for calling the emergency services.
You can sign up for as many or as few as you like. Box Office duties usually start around 6.15pm through to 10-10.30pm depending on the show.

About Kings Theatre
When the theatre is in use our front of house area requires one person to run the box office, two people to sell programmes (if required) and to serve teas, coffees etc at the beginning and during the interval and finally two people to run our bar. At the end of the show we all muck in to clear up ready for the next show.
Training will be provided for all of these roles. We use Ticketsource for our ticket sales and Tabology for our bar sales, so some computer knowledge would be useful.
We have a great group of volunteers already at Kings but we it would fantastic to have some new people on board! Our volunteers age from 16 through to 78, so please come along and join us!
