As a Code Club Volunteer, you’ll guide young learners (typically 7 - 11) through fun, beginner friendly coding projects in a relaxed and supportive environment.
You won’t be giving lectures or running formal lessons – instead you’ll act as a mentor, encouraging and enabling creative curiosity.
What we aim to do
- Help young people (age 7 – 11) to explore coding through games, animations, websites and storytelling
- Support them to learn coding languages like Scratch, Python of HTML
- Encourage problem-solving, teamwork, and creative thinking
- Bring positivity to make tech feel fun, and not intimidating
What will you need to do?
- Lead or support sessions exploring coding
- Act as a mentor to help children explore their digital creativity
- Support promotion locally, engaging parents and carers
What skills are needed?
- A love for tech and a desire to share it with young minds
- Patience, encouragement and a sense of humour
- Basic knowledge of coding (don’t worry, we can provide resources)
- Willingness to learn alongside young people –it’s okay not to have all the
- answers!
- A friendly and approachable manner, with an ability to encourage and motivate
- Confidence working with children

We ask for:
1 hour per week (plus a little prep time).
We ask for you to commit for a minimum of 12 weeks
