Our Welcoming Volunteers are based on the Therapy Department reception desk and support the reception staff with checking in patients and administrative tasks.

Purpose of the Role:

Welcome patients to the Physiotherapy Department when they arrive for their appointment.


Main Responsibilities:


Welcome patients to the Physiotherapy Department.

Car Parking assistance if required

Where necessary, direct patients to other areas if applicable

Signposting patient to other services (Podiatry information or GP)

Record destinations which the public have difficulty finding so that signage can be improved

Where necessary, contact staff to inform them that a patient is waiting.

Carry out basic housekeeping tasks

Keep information boards and leaflets tidy and up to date; advise on items to re-order.

Take phone messages for reception staff.

Phoning patients with messages as directed by reception staff.

Help keep magazines tidy in the waiting area.

Encourage visitors to use handwashing gel and facilities.

Give out self-referral forms to patients.

Request wheelchair assistance if required.

Assist reception staff with administrative tasks, including opening post, stuffing and/or addressing envelopes, photocopying, filing and checking answer phone messages.

Maintain confidentiality and a professional attitude at all times.
