Volunteer Role: Gloucestershire Carers Hub Information Point Volunteer

Location: Hospital (A&E / Main Areas)

Organisation: Gloucestershire Carers Hub Reporting to Volunteer coordinator and Health liaison officer

Hours: First Tuesday Afternoon of each month potential to grow to more hours however we are always flexible around volunteers.

Support Carers when they need it most

Gloucestershire Carers Hub is looking for friendly and compassionate volunteers to staff our Hospital Information Point. In this role, you’ll help identify Carers, offer information about local support, and ensure they are aware of the services available to them.

What you’ll be doing

As an Information Point Volunteer, you will:

  • Identify Carers who may not realise they are in a caring role
  • Signpost Carers to Gloucestershire Carers Hub support, services, and resources
  • Provide information about what help is available, including helping sign up online to the Carers Hub
  • Liaise with Carers, the public, and healthcare professionals in a welcoming and approachable manner
  • Raise awareness of Carers Hub services within the hospital environment
  • Support Carers during stressful or emotional moments, offering reassurance and guidance
  • Share leaflets and resources and encourage referrals where appropriate

What we’re looking for

You don’t need specialist experience — just the right qualities:

  • Warm, friendly, and comfortable speaking with a wide range of people
  • Good listener with strong communication skills
  • Confident working in a busy hospital setting
  • Compassionate and non‑judgemental
  • Reliable and able to maintain confidentiality
