Summary

To support clients to tend to the garden flower beds. To offer a listening ear and to spend time socially making friends with the visitors and clients.

Detailed description

Would you like to get out in the fresh air?

Meet new people… perhaps learn some new gardening skills?

or maybe bring along some cake and have a cuppa and chat in beautiful surroundings? Then why not join us at the Stow Surgery garden once a week. Wednesday afternoons during spring, summer and autumn months from 1.30 pm until 3.30 pm as an ongoing volunteer.

This is a great volunteering role for someone who is sociable and caring, with lots of garden skills to offer or just learn in the garden as you go.

What we need from you is supporting hand/ear to older and more vulnerable people to help them feel part of their local community.

Your role as a supporting volunteer to the main garden lead volunteer is to help with organising the activities for the afternoon such as weeding, planting, clipping shrubs etc..., support with refreshments and to have a good natter. This is a good fun opportunity offering a sense of satisfaction, knowing you are helping the local people to get out and about in Stow and surrounding area.

You will be lucky enough to be working alongside a County Garden Judge and can learn some new garden skills. You do not need any qualifications for this role. Good people skills and a sense of humour is a must.

What we can offer you is a friendly safe and green environment, with lots of tea and cake and also a chance to learn about the growing seasons and supporting others. All our Volunteers are insured, offered regular training in Safeguarding, First Aid and more if you would like to join in. We also have Volunteer events and fundraisers for the charity, which are great fun, so why not come along and plant the seeds for new life in the garden and also enrich your own. We would love to see you there.
