Summary
Corinium Talking News are in urgent need for someone to record the news on to CD for our Visually Impaired listeners.Detailed description
CTN urgently need someone to join their volunteer family to record the local news on to CD for our local Visually Impaired listeners.
The recording session takes place on a Saturday morning between 9am and 12pm every 5 weeks. Confidence with technology is required, but full training and ongoing support is provided.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating attendance at recording sessions (every 5 weeks on a Saturday morning)
- Using the laptop and CD writers to record and copy CDs (every 5 weeks). Full training provided.
- Putting CDs in addressed envelopes
- Delivering CDs to the Post Office
We are a very supportive group and look forward to welcoming someone new into our little team!

CTN is a dedicated and skilled team of volunteers who bring digitally recorded news to the blind and visually impaired in Cirencester and the surrounding areas.
We also supply a number of former residents who previously received our service and, although they have since moved away, they like to keep up to date with events in the district.
We produce a weekly compact disc with 80 minutes of content from The Wilts & Glos Standard. This content includes:

Feature stories
Community news
Letters
What’s on
Family announcements
Sports reports
In addition we also supply an 80 min monthly Magazine CD which contains articles of a more lighthearted nature, various interviews & features, along with contributions from a number of regular ‘special guests’.
These CDs are recorded and produced in our specialist studios and are easily navigated to enable listeners to dip in and out of the local news or magazine programs, just as we would dip in and out of a daily newspaper or magazine.
