Bowling Buddies is part of our Social Buddies programme, which brings together adults with learning disabilities and local volunteers who share similar interest
We are looking for volunteers who can spare a few hours each month to support someone to feel less isolated and more connected to their local community through regular bowling sessions and friendship.
This role is focused on friendship and enjoying leisure activities together. Volunteers are not expected to provide personal care, administer medication, or undertake any form of support work.
As a Bowling Buddy, you will meet up with your buddy once a month to enjoy bowling together, have a chat, and build a meaningful connection.
Every friendship is different, and we encourage buddies to get to know each other and enjoy spending time together.
What we offer
- Training to help you support adults with learning disabilities
- Ongoing support from the Building Circles team
- Opportunities to take part in a range of volunteer social activities
- Reimbursement of expenses, including travel costs (up to £20 per outing)
No previous experience is required.
Our next volunteer training session will take place on 11th August 2026. If this date is not suitable, we can arrange an alternative weekend training session where required, so please don't let this put you off applying.
Join us and make a real difference by helping someone build confidence, develop friendships, and enjoy the fun of bowling and socialising together.

About Building Circles
Building Circles supports adults with learning disabilities in Gloucestershire to form and maintain meaningful friendships. Our Social Buddies, Gig Buddies and Football Buddies programmes connect adults with learning disabilities to local volunteers. Our Buddies then go out into the community to do things they enjoy - together. Our volunteers also support our other groups, such as our Allotment Groups and Art Group. We aim to enable adults with learning disabilities to live a more meaningful life, and volunteers are at the heart of what we do. In exchange for your volunteering time, we offer training and ongoing support, as well as reimbursement of expenses and opportunities to join our team at a range of social events.
