The Digital Inclusion project aims to motivate and inspire older people to get online, support them to engage safely and securely in the digital world.
We’re passionate about local older people understanding the benefits of being online and supporting their engagement with IT, to build confidence and maximise opportunities to engage with an increasing digital world.
Digital Inclusion volunteers motivate and inspire older people to get online, providing one-to-one and group IT training to develop digital skills and confidence. This enables people to engage safely and securely in the digital world. Working as part of a team, support may be one off or regular and ongoing and in a variety of community settings in the Tewkesbury area.
You will need to feel confident using mobile phones, tablets and accessing information, have good communication skills, a person-centred approach and the ability to support an older person with patience and understanding. In depth IT knowledge is not necessary.
Our volunteers tell us that they gain an enormous satisfaction and a real buzz helping people build on their developing skills and navigate the digital world. Being a Digital Inclusion volunteer provides the opportunity to develop and use coaching and mentoring skills whilst making a real difference to the lives of older people. It’s also a great way to make new friends!
