Detailed description

Whether it's swimming, hiking, golf or even archery, our blind veterans love getting involved in sports and it's great for their wellbeing!

Do you enjoy hill walking? Our member wants to take part in the Malvern challenge in 2023 and needs help with training for the event.

As a sports volunteer you will be on hand to make sure that they can fully participate in a safe way. Sometimes this will mean providing descriptions of things where they may not be able to see, or guiding a veteran to help them orientate themselves. For this role, we are looking for volunteers who aren’t afraid to get stuck in, and have great experience and understanding of sport activities.

Volunteers must be over the age of 18 years and understand the importance of confidentiality and relationship boundaries. The role can be flexible around your other commitments, but we ask that you are reliable and punctual for our veterans. You will be fully trained and supported so you feel comfortable and confident in your volunteering.

About Blind Veterans UK

At Blind Veterans UK, we provide veterans with rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support.
We’re one transformational team that believes every vision-impaired veteran should be able to lead the life they choose. Together we can help rebuild lives after sight loss.
We help blind ex-Servicemen and women of every generation. Since 1915, we’ve provided support to tens of thousands of vision-impaired veterans.

Together we can help rebuild blind veterans’ lives after sight loss. Away from isolation. Towards a life of fulfilment.
