Be part of the visually impaired tennis revolution in Gloucestershire as a Tournament Volunteer!
We are looking for volunteers to support a recreational visually impaired (VI) tennis tournament on Saturday November 5th at Oxstalls Indoor Tennis Centre in Gloucester, running from 1.30pm for approximately 3 - 4 hours. No experience of VI tennis is required, all you need is a willingness to help out and learn! This tournament is designed to give players match experience, so they can practise before entering LTA-organised events.
VI Tennis is played with a rattly sponge ball which is slightly larger than a regular tennis ball and can be heard by the players. The court is smaller, as the baseline is not as deep as in standard tennis. VI tennis tournaments take place throughout the year across the UK. More information about the game can be found on the Metro Blind Sport website.
Typical duties of this role will include:
Helping participants move around the tennis centre
Helping participants locate their belongings
Setting up the playing area
Retrieving stray balls
We welcome applications from all tennis enthusiasts, from qualified coaches to casual fans. This is a great opportunity to play your part in establishing this fast-growing sport in the county!
