Summary

Be part of the visually impaired tennis revolution as a Volunteer Assistant Coach!

Detailed description

We are looking for volunteers to support the visually impaired (VI) tennis programme on Tuesday evenings at Oxstalls Indoor Tennis Centre in Gloucester. No experience of VI tennis is required, all you need is a willingness to learn.

VI Tennis is played with a rattly sponge ball which is slightly larger than a regular tennis ball and can be heard by the players. The court is smaller, as the baseline is not as deep as in standard tennis. VI tennis tournaments take place throughout the year across the UK. More information about the game can be found on the Metro Blind Sport website.

Typical duties of this role will include:

Helping participants move around the tennis centre

Helping participants locate their belongings

Setting up the playing area

Retrieving stray balls

A DBS check is required for this role. This will be free of charge to the applicant.

We welcome applications from all tennis enthusiasts, from qualified coaches to casual fans. This is a great opportunity to play your part in establishing this fast-growing sport in the county!
