Summary
Become a Volunteer Mentor!Do you have a little spare time and a heart for understanding and supporting young people? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
Detailed description
Thames Valley Partnership is one of seven trusted organisations collaborating to deliver Gloucestershire Mentoring Programme, a FREE mentoring service for girls and young women whose life circumstances suggest they’re at risk of becoming involved in crime.
The Programme offers these “at risk” young females the chance to form a long-lasting relationship with a trusted independent adult (trained volunteer mentor). This type of relationship is something that’s often missing in their lives and can be life-changing. It helps them build resilience and grow in confidence, and, over time, empowers them to have a more positive future.
We are looking for people who can help us deliver this service by becoming volunteer mentors, providing one-to one support for 10 – 19 year old females in Gloucestershire. You don’t need to have any experience, though it’s a bonus if you’ve faced your own life challenges. Just be there for someone local to you and stick with them for a year or so. We will provide full training and support.
· Become a caring confidante at a crucial time
· Listen and empathise non-judgementally
· Provide support to make good life choices
· Make a tangible difference in someone’s life
· Gain insight about other people’s life circumstances
· Experience a new relationship that can have a positive impact on your own life
For safeguarding reasons, this role is subject to a DBS check and references.
