Not everyone can commit to regular volunteering, so we also have opportunities to join us for events and special occasions throughout the year.

Event volunteers might help with:

  • setting up and decorating
  • welcoming people
  • serving food and refreshments
  • stewarding
  • practical jobs during an event
  • clearing up afterwards
  • fundraising activities

This can be a lovely way to get involved with Hill House if your availability changes from month to month.

About Sanctuary Breaks

Sanctuary Breaks aims to enable people seeking asylum, refugees and survivors of trafficking or torture, to find respite from the emotional traumas they have experienced and recover confidence and self-esteem in a community that understands and accepts them. We provide, at Hill House in Amberley, a place of welcome, safety, rest and hope, for short breaks, day visits, and a range of activities that provide opportunities for contact, inclusion and engagement with surrounding communities and for developing and demonstrating their skills, thus increasing confidence and self-esteem.
