Summary
Our befriending volunteer roles provide a fantastic opportunity to help lonely individuals feel supported and connected.
Detailed description
As a volunteer, working with people in the Tetbury, Fairford and Lechlade area, you will offer companionship to a person in their own home, providing an invaluable service to someone who may be feeling lonely and isolated.
In this role, you'll:
. Visit a person's home to engage in friendly conversation and share some time together.
. Offer a listening ear and provide companionship; perhaps over a cuppa.
. An hour a week is fantastic, but we understand that everyone has different schedules. The beauty of this role is that it's flexible! Whether you can offer an hour a week or more, whatever time you can contribute will make a huge difference to the person you're supporting.
Skills/experience needed:
. No experience is required; we welcome anyone with a caring and open hearted attitude.
. The ability to communicate and be empathetic; to listen.
. A commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the individual you visit.
Why volunteer with us?
. You will develop new skills that are transferrable to many other areas of life and work, such as: communication and active listening, problem solving, time management and commitment.
. Gain valuable experience for future opportunities.
. Personal growth: befriending older people opens you up to new perspectives, helping you to grow as an individual.
A DBS will be required which we will organise as part of our onboarding.
