Summary

Volunteer Co-ordinator

Detailed description

NOT ON AMAZON is widely recognised as one of the leading online spaces for artists and creatives to promote their work.

Since being set up during the UK’s Covid lockdown the Facebook group NOT ON AMAZON has grown to a membership of over 200,000 people with a core of around 30,000 artisan business owners. After two successful years in operation we’re working towards becoming an arts foundation with a view to supporting artists and creatives in more ways than we do today.

We currently provide an online sales platform which has enabled a large number of creatives to earn a living from their work without having to pay the high fees and commissions generally charged by multi vendor marketplaces. As well as being a reliable marketplace our Facebook group has a vibrant community which provides valuable social contact for our members who often spend large amounts of time in solitary activity.

At NOT ON AMAZON we believe that creativity enriches peoples lives and we want to enable more people to experience the beneficial effects of creative activity and our next goal is to build the organisation up to a point where we are able to provide financial assistance and mentoring to aspiring creatives.

Currently we do not receive any funding apart from donations and we’re unable to offer any paid roles in our organisation so the only way we’re going to be able to take our next steps is to expand our team of volunteers. Hopefully that’s where you can help!

About the role.

As Volunteer Co-ordinator we would need you to be able to:

  • Deal with queries from potential new volunteers who get in touch.
  • Be the first point of contact for our existing volunteers and answer general queries.
  • Lead on advertising new volunteer roles.
  • Set up interviews with potential volunteers and assist with induction administration.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as recording volunteer hours, registering new volunteers on our database, organising rotas and processing expenses claims.

Any of the following skills would be useful but not essential for this role:

  • Experience in volunteering and or recruitment or within another similar role.
  • Excellent written, verbal, listening and presentation skills.
  • An ability to work autonomously where needed and to plan work under pressure, and adapt to new models of working.
  • Organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and supervise volunteers effectively.
  • Ability to work hours in a flexible way, including occasional evenings and weekends.

This is a part-time volunteer role which will usually take between 12 and 16 hours per week.

If you would like to become a part of this growing organisation at an exciting time in our evolution please apply.

We’ll reply within seven days to arrange an interview or discuss alternative opportunities if this role has been filled.

About NOT ON AMAZON CIC

Since it was created in late 2020 NOT ON AMAZON has gone from being a Facebook group where creative business owners can promote their work, to being just one part of an organisation which has virtual regional hubs across the UK, hosts in-person markets and aims to provide small scale funding for artists and community groups.
2023 will be the year that NOT ON AMAZON CIC starts to help more people in more different ways. In the very near future we're going to be able to start accepting applications for funding from individuals and small organisations.
In the donations tab on our buymeacoffee.com/NOTONAMAZON page we've swapped the word "Coffee" for "Artist's Future" because when you make a donation to our fund you're doing more than buying our team a coffee, you're actually helping secure the future of The Arts and paving the way for Future Artists by helping us provide a platform for their work and funding for projects.
Having tried to navigate the mysterious and opaque world of "Official Funding" ourselves, our long term goal is to be able to provide a simple way for creative artists or community groups to access the money they need to get small projects off the ground.
Our criteria hasn't been set yet but we're not going to give start-up cash or business development grants and we don't intend to give out single large amounts to individuals. We'd like to be able to help people to access basic art equipment and materials and give them the opportunity to experiment. As for community events, when setting these up there are only so many things that goodwill will cover, everything else costs money. That's where NOT ON AMAZON CIC wants to be able to help.
With over 200,000 members in our Facebook group we're in a unique position to organise very large scale fundraising events and help turn more people's dreams into reality than we have since our inception.
