About James Hopkins Trust

The James Hopkins Trust is a registered charity, established in 1989. Our journey began with a single vision – to make a positive impact on the lives of children who face severe health challenges. Over the years, we have grown and evolved, but our commitment to the children and families we serve remains unwavering.

Vance & Heather Hopkins created James Hopkins Trust in memory of their son James who passed away on May 29th at 20months old. Our first fundraising event was held in September, a Jumble Sale which raised £300. This money was used to provide respite care at home for the 1st child we ever supported.

Our free nursing led respite care for your child can be received in your own home, or at our purpose-built respite centre, Kites Corner in Gloucester, where we offer a variety of activities for children to enjoy. We provide specialist care for babies and children up to the age of 6 who have life limiting or life-threatening conditions whilst also supporting their families.

We currently support over 100 families in Gloucestershire. Since 1989, James Hopkins Trust has helped well over 700 children and their families in every corner of Gloucestershire. James Hopkins Trust is here to create very special, lasting memories.

It costs JHT in excess of £820,000 per year to provide nursing respite care for around 100 children and their families from across the county and run James Hopkins Trust. We pro-actively raise these funds with our own fundraising events, support from local businesses and the community, as well as grant making trusts.

Sadly, parents do not know how long they may have with their precious child. James Hopkins Trust takes pride in making magic memories for the children and their families to treasure.
