Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of fathers and families? Do you believe that every dad matters and should have access to support and guidance? Home-Start Stroud and Gloucester, a leading family support charity, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Dad Matters Trustee.


About Home-Start Stroud and Gloucester:

Home-Start Stroud and Gloucester provides crucial assistance to families facing various challenges. Our aim is to help parents build better lives for themselves and their children, ensuring that every child has the best possible start in life.


Role Overview:

As a Dad Matters Trustee, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction and governance of Home-Start Stroud and Gloucester. You will specifically focus on our "Dad Matters" program, which aims to provide targeted support to fathers and promote their engagement in their children's lives.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other trustees to develop and implement strategic plans for the organization.
  • Bring expertise and experience in engaging and supporting fathers to influence the design and delivery of the Dad Matters program.
  • Actively participate in board meetings, offering valuable insights and perspectives.
  • Work closely with the senior management team to ensure effective operations and service delivery.
  • Contribute to fundraising initiatives, including engaging with potential donors and supporters.
  • Promote Home-Start Stroud and Gloucester's work in the community, building relationships with local organizations, businesses, and relevant stakeholders.


Requirements:

  • Passion for supporting families and improving outcomes for children.
  • Experience in working with fathers, either professionally or through personal involvement.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to Home-Start Stroud and Gloucester's values and objectives.
  • Knowledge of governance and understanding of the responsibilities of being a trustee (desirable but not essential).


Commitment:

  • Attend approximately six board meetings per year, usually held in the evening.
  • Attend occasional subcommittee meetings as required.
  • Dedicate additional time for preparation and reading board papers.
  • Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities as needed.

We support over 600 families every year through a plethora of different services including home visiting by trained volunteers, ante and post-natal groups, a perinatal mental health peer support programme and a Dad Matters project to specifically support dads to have the best relationships possible with their children.
