Cheltenham Roundtable Christmas Float - Info for Volunteers on the night
Time
Please arrive approx. 20 minutes before the start time. This will make sure you have time to find us, have a briefing and get your high-viz on.
Clothing
We go out whatever the weather: dress in appropriate clothing – gloves and hats are usually a must – and make sure you have decent footwear, as it is a couple of hours of steady walking.
What we provide
We will provide you with the charity buckets to collect donations and high-vis vests to pop over your coats (you might want to bring a small torch).
Greeting
It won’t take you long to get the hang of it, but for a start try something like:
“Cheltenham Roundtable out with Santa, collecting money for…and other good causes”
Technique
Try and make sure you are out in front of the float. If you are ambling behind, by the time someone answers the door, the float might be out of sight of their doorway. There is nothing worse than knocking a door, the kids running downstairs and by the time they get there they have missed Santa. Get in front of the float, give them time to see Santa!
Mind out for traffic – it’ll be dark and there will be lots of cars about as well as excitable children!!
About Hollie Gazzard Trust
Following her horrific murder, the family, Nick, Amanda and Chloe, wanted something positive to come out of the loss and set up the Trust not only to help other victims but to raise funds to support young people. Hollie had suffered from domestic abuse, violence and stalking in the time leading up to her death and tackling these issues is at the forefront of the work we do.
The Trust sponsors young people who, like Hollie, have a passion for hairdressing. They wanted to form the Trust in order to give opportunities to others that she had been fortunate to have.
While Hollie’s family are still devastated by her untimely death, and unable to change the events of that fateful day, they hope that the funds raised through the Hollie Gazzard Trust will help others find a better future and reach their potential. The Trust relies on the generosity of the individuals and companies that support it and hold a number of official fundraising initiatives each year.
