Are you organised, can you drive larger vehicles happy to help advise the public in crime prevention, want to work as part of a small team?

Crime Prevention Engagement Volunteer.

Are you well organised?

Are you like keeping things ship shape?

Do you have an interest in Crime Prevention?

Are you able to drive one of our engagement vehicles (mobile police stations) to meet up with local officers at various sites around the County?

If the answer is yes then we want to hear from you.

We are looking for a team of volunteers to assist looking after the engagement vehicles, making sure that they are stocked up with relevant leaflets and kept in the manner you would expect of a mobile police station.

You will with the other volunteers in the team prepare the vehicle and then drive it to meet up with our Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPH Teams) around the County. There with help set up the vehicle in situ and be on hand to discuss crime prevention matters with the NPH Team. At the end of a few hours pack the vehicle away with the NPH team and then drive the vehicle back to Police HQ. Leaving it refuelled and re stocked ready to go for the next deployment.

Crime Prevention training will be provided so you can give advice to other members of the public whilst on site with the other officers.

You will need to under go a driving assessment and training in how to set up the vehicles.

If this is something you think you could and would like to do please submit an application.

About Gloucestershire Constabulary

Gloucestershire Constabulary is one of the oldest rural police forces in Britain. The area we cover is around 1,000 square miles and is home to the Cotswolds, the Royal Forest of Dean and the Severn Vale, but also includes the urban centres of Cheltenham and Gloucester.

We serve a population of around 600,000 people in a county which incorporates the royal households of Highgrove and Gatcombe Park, airports at Staverton and Kemble, two universities, part of the M5 motorway and a number of large employers including GCHQ. It also hosts several major events.

Day-to-day policing of the county is delivered through six areas: Cheltenham, Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Stroud, Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean.

Neighbourhood policing is very much at the heart of the Constabulary and within the six areas, we have teams covering 55 communities.

At the most local level, our neighbourhood policing teams have built strong relationships with the communities within which they work. Made up of Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), Special Constables, Police Support Volunteers, Volunteer Police Cadets and Police Staff, they tackle crime and disorder and other issues which matter most to the public.

Community policing is only part of what we do. The Constabulary showcase the work we do at our annual Open Day. Highlights include our dogs and mounted sections, roads policing team, forensics unit, specialist firearms officers, demonstrations and an opportunity to speak with Constabulary staff about paid and volunteer recruitment opportunities.

Gloucestershire Constabulary also works with other organisations (partners) such as local councils, support groups and charities, sharing expertise and making the best use of resources to help beat crime, make the county a safer place within which to live, visit and work and keep the people of Gloucestershire safe from harm.
