Gloucestershire Community Foundation is looking for two new volunteer grant panel members to help assess applications for funding by community groups and charities that work with young people at risk of engagement in crime or anti-social behaviour.

At Gloucestershire Community Foundation our vision is to bring together the talent, skills and resources available across Gloucestershire to help support disadvantaged people and build vibrant communities. In 2023, through our grant making and working with donors, we distributed £438,000 to groups and individuals in communities throughout the county. 

About the panel

The High Sheriff of Gloucestershire grants programme panel is particularly focused on diverting young people from engagement in crime and anti-social behaviour through offering opportunities to engage in challenging activities that raise self-esteem and develop skills. Each year the programme distributes around £55,000 in grants of £2,500.

Grants panel members

• share their knowledge of the county, Gloucestershire’s communities and of young people
• assess applications for funds from community and charity groups that are making a difference in the daily lives of young people.
• attend and prepare for three two-hour meetings a year, in person or online
• read and analyse information
• share their views succinctly and clearly
• maintain confidentiality
