Looking for support for Empowerment sessions in the community to support staff at events. Stroud, Stonehouse, Hucclecoat and other areas throughout Glos.Detailed description
Be Empowered is a series of awareness and information sessions to provide Carers the opportunity to
refresh their skills and understanding to recognise their own strengths and abilities.
They can come along to one session or the whole series.
The location and content are as follows:
Be Empowered in Stroud & Stonehouse:
- Grange View Address: Grange View, Uplands, Stroud, Glos, GL5 1GR
- Sherborne House Address: Osprey Drive, Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, GL10 2HP
22nd June 10am-12pm Grange View – Dealing with Carer Guilt & Compassion Fatigue
The session looks at how compassion fatigue develops and what it looks like as a Carer that you may not be aware
of. We provide ways to reduce the risk and what to do if you need further help.
13th July 10am – 12pm Sherborne – Communicating with Services and how to build confidence.
Session looks at types of communication that you can use and how to successfully put it into practice. We explore
your boundaries when talking to professionals and how to overcome them, including hints and tips to communicate
confidently with services.
27th July 10am -12pm Grange View – Planning Hospital Care and Discharge
Looks at planning hospital and healthcare to promote you, as a Carer being involved as either a patient or a visitor to
the person you support. Provides guidance as to who may be involved in discharge and what you could consider as
options to discuss with the hospital team caring for you or the person you care for.
10th August 10am -12pm Sherborne – Developing Healthy Boundaries and Building Resilience
We explore different techniques to help you cope under difficult situations. The session shares ideas of how to build your own ability to cope and manage under the pressure.
The session looks at ways to improve the clarity of roles, and establishing and maintaining health boundaries to give everyone a sense of safety and control.
24th August 10am -12pm Grange View – Looking after yourself as a Carer.
The session explores how you can look after yourself in your caring role, focusing on Carer wellbeing and practical
ways to achieve this.

These are running from 10am – 12pm.
Following these sessions there will be more organised throughout the county, we are looking for volunteers who could help with a group of sessions. Volunteers will be welcoming friendly people who are comfortable welcoming guests chatting with them to support the member of staff who will deliver the sessions. Will provide training, a DBS and full support
