Summary

1-2-1 Support

Detailed description

Diverse Leap is an organisation (Currently awaiting registration with the Charity Commison group) that has developed partnerships with existing providers of mental health interventions, including local NHS services and other charities, and look forward to developing links in other areas of the County in the years ahead.

We hope to open Hubs across the County, and so far launched in Gloucester, and in preparation for Forest of Dean Cinderford & Cheltenham.

We are looking for (5) more Volunteers in the Forest area and (5) more in Cheltenham to join each team of (10)

While there is no experience required we are looking for people who have a passion for empowering people and can offer 1-2-1 support a “listening ear”

In a Nut shell Volunteering with diverse leap does not provide “counselling” but instead offer trained volunteers who have an interest in supporting people with Mental Wellbeing.

Our Training provides a Mental Health First Aid Course, developed by MHFA (Mental Health First Aid England, accredited by the Royal Society of Public Health. And a further one day training course into Safeguarding, Effective listening module. And more.

Joining the Diverse Leap team, the training does not stop there, each of our volunteers can then do more training with us through the Gloucester County Council, and offer courses such as “Complex emotional Needs Disorder” at the Volunteers discretion.

We ask that our Volunteer's can commit to (3) hours per week from 11am till 2pm On Tuesdays in Cinderford at the Candi Centre on Market Street & from 10am till 1pm in Cheltenham at the Hester’s way resource centre On Thursdays

While we appreciate some weeks you may have other plans however we would require notice for the Rota.

If you’d like to arrange a informal chat please message the page direct. Our next training is the 17th and 18th of March, Launch dates on The 9th of May (Cinderford) & The 4th of May Cheltenham.

About Diverse Leap

Diverse Leap is a charity formed in Gloucester in December 2021 with the aim of supporting people who are experiencing poor mental wellbeing or/and who believe that they may be experiencing the symptoms of depression (or other mental health disorder). We know that many people with poor mental wellbeing can easily become isolated or find it increasingly hard to cope with normal day-to-day life but we also know how much benefit can be found from simply having someone who will listen to them without judgement.
Diverse Leap provides that “Listening Ear” in a safe place. We provide not only empathy (and a cup of tea) but also evidence-based advice and support, signposting to professional sources of treatment and activities to promote positive mental wellbeing. All our volunteers are accredited Mental Health First Aiders and are passionate about making a difference to people's lives; many also bring their own lived experience to share.
Our very firm intent is that no-one who visits Diverse Leap leaves us feeling lonely or hopeless but instead is empowered and supported to take more control over their own lives. So, although we appreciate it can be tough to talk about our own feelings and emotions, we encourage anyone who is feeling low or anxious to “take that leap” and come along and see us. All our services are confidential and are provided free of charge.
