Tea with a Pony is a wonderful activity aimed at people living with dementia, or similar conditions and/or disabilities.
Tea with a Pony
Tea with a Pony is a wonderful activity aimed at people living with dementia, or similar conditions and/or disabilities. The session lasts about 30 minutes, with a maximum of three participants per session. Often they are from local care homes, looking for a different type of activity for their residents.
What will volunteers be helping with?
Pony handler - this volunteer holds the pony behind the gate for participants to meet and stroke. You will need to be trained to lead a pony; we can complete this and sign-off your training record on your first day.
Host - the host prepares the table and refreshments for the guests, and stays with them during their visit. Participants will also chat to the host and ask questions about Cotswold RDA and our ponies (you don't have to know all the answers!).
What time do you need volunteers?
We hold most sessions on a Wednesday morning between 10am and 12pm. We have between one and three sessions per morning, each lasting 30 minutes. Volunteers ideally need to be free for the entire morning, but some weeks will only have one session.
