Summary

Summary
The Governing Board of Churcham Primary School are currently looking for new governors to join our friendly governing body.

Detailed description

Governors are essential for the effectiveness and success of the school to provide the best possible education for our children. The main functions of the governing body are:

· Helping to set and review the schools strategic direction and agreeing targets for improvement

· Holding the headteacher and school leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils

·  Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure public money is well spent

Governors spend time reading and considering paperwork to prepare for and attend approximately 6 meetings per year. They are also encouraged to conduct one or two monitoring visits to the school during the year.

We would be delighted to hear from anyone who:

· Is interested in children’s education and the performance of the school

· Is community spirited and would like to represent the community

· Is happy to ask questions and debate issues that affect the school

· Can consider matters objectively and make informed judgements.

We are interested in hearing from people with a range of skills and experience, including those with finance, data analysis or education experience. However, what is most important is enthusiasm, interest and the willingness to learn.

What does the role of school governor offer our volunteers?

· A chance to develop your interpersonal and professional skills

· Full induction and ongoing training to support you in your role

. Ongoing support and guidance from a supportive team of fellow governors

For more information or to apply, please contact the Clerk to Governors via email.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS clearance and online checks.
