Summary

The CFPA is a festival of music, drama and dance, for children young adults and adults, taking place in May each year. This year is our 100th anniversary.

Detailed description

We are looking for a friendly, organised and confident Chief Steward to take over the organisation and leadership of our fantastic group of volunteer stewards and make our festival run smoothly. The Chief steward is responsible for monitoring recruitment of and supervising the stewards, maintaining high standards of safeguarding, and helping to create a positive environment for young performers, families, and all visitors.

Role: Chief Steward – Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts

Reporting to: The Festival Committee

Location: Cheltenham Town Hall

Hours: 10 days at the beginning of May each year plus 3 or 4 meetings between festivals. In addition there will be approximately 5 hours per month answering emails and planning the next festival.

Who we are looking for:

-         Someone who enjoys working with people and can lead a team with confidence and kindness.

-         A calm, practical problem-solver who can think on their feet.

-         An understanding or experience of health & safety and safeguarding practices, organising staff rotas and helping people to learn the job is helpful — but enthusiasm and reliability matter just as much.

What the role involves:

-         Recruitment, briefing and managing a team of volunteer stewards.

-         Being the key point of contact for any stewarding issues at the event.

-         Upholding safeguarding policies and promoting a child-safe environment.

-         Serving as the main link between stewards and the main committee.

-         Keeping communication clear and positive.

-         Managing and monitoring the steward rota.

-         Organising a CFPA afternoon tea once per year.

Come help us create an organised, fun and supportive space where performers can shine!
