We’re looking for women and non-binary people to help our teams deliver creative clubs for autistic teens and young adults on Tuesdays

We need volunteers (women or non-binary) to help us create welcoming and enriching environments for our participants where they can explore their creativity and build connections in a neuro-affirming space.

We are particulalry interested in neurodivergent volunteers who will be able to bring their lived experience to the role. We know our young people really benefit from having neurodivergent role models in the space.

We run two different clubs.

  • one for 11-16 year olds
  • one for 16-25 year olds

‘Being Me’ clubs are spaces where Autistic girls and non-binary young people can feel accepted and celebrated for being their authentic selves.

Our neurodivergent facilitators provide optional creative activities in a low pressure, neuro-arming environment where participants can just ‘be’ alongside other Autistic young people.

Our clubs have shown to:

  • Raise participants’confidence
  • Help participants to further understand themselves and their identities
  • Connect participants with other Autistic young people and their families
  • Enable participants to express and advocate for their needs

Most of our team our neurodivergent, and you might be too! Part of our recruitment process involves taking some time to chat to you so we can find out more about each other and check if this feels like a good fit for us both. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

As a Being Me volunteer you'll join the team to deliver the clubs by

  • helping to set up the space
  • supporting young people in the space by chatting to them (verbally or with writing or typing)
  • crafting alongside them
  • supporting them to bring their creative vision to life

Being Me volunteers tell us

  • they enjoy developing their creative skills
  • they develop their understanding of needs of autistic young people and how they can support them
  • they feel supported and encouraged in our organisation, Can't Sit Still
  • Being Me world is creative and a bit bonkers ... and they love it!
