Summary

We’re looking for a friendly volunteer to spend time with a local adult with learning disabilities in the Newent area.

Detailed description

Just a few hours a month will help him feel less isolated and more connected to his community. It would be great if you share some interests such as bowling, nature, animals, art, gardening, Lego, or walking.

A valid driving licence and use of a personal vehicle are needed for this position (other non-driving roles are also available).

A willingness to undertake Autism and Epilepsy Awareness training is required (other roles available).

Expenses reimbursed up to £20 per outing.

Our Social Buddy Scheme matches volunteers with individuals in their local area to enjoy everyday activities together, helping to reduce social isolation and build meaningful friendships. We match volunteers who live in all areas of Gloucestershire. You do not need access to your own vehicle for all of our opportunities.

About Building Circles

Building Circles supports adults with learning disabilities in Gloucestershire to form and maintain meaningful friendships. Our Social Buddies, Gig Buddies and Football Buddies programmes connect adults with learning disabilities to local volunteers. Our Buddies then go out into the community to do things they enjoy - together. Our volunteers also support our other groups, such as our Allotment Groups and Art Group. We aim to enable adults with learning disabilities to live a more meaningful life, and volunteers are at the heart of what we do. In exchange for your volunteering time, we offer training and ongoing support, as well as reimbursement of expenses and opportunities to join our team at a range of social events.
