We need volunteers to support our parent and baby group - New Baby, New Life. This group is a friendly space for new parents to connect and get support.
New Baby, New Life Group Volunteers plays a supportive and welcoming role in group for new parents and their babies. This group offers a safe, friendly space where new parents can connect with each other, share experiences, and receive emotional and practical support in the early months of parenthood.
It is a Wednesday morning, term time only weekly group based at Cirencester Baptist Church.
Volunteers help by preparing the space, engaging with parents, supporting relaxed activities, and offering reassurance during what can be a challenging transition into life with a new baby.
This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys helping others and values community support for families.
As a New Baby, New Life Group Volunteer, you will
- Greet parents and babies on arrival, helping them feel relaxed and at ease.
- Support the preparation and clear up of the room.
- Maintain a calm, inclusive, and supportive space
- Help with making refreshments for parents.
- Support staff with activities like sensory play or invited external speakers.
- Chat informally with new parents and gently encourage group conversation.
- Help introduce new members to the group and ease them into conversations.
To ensure all volunteers feel confident and well-prepared, we provide a full induction that includes an introduction to the organisation, safeguarding training and full role description. Plus, ongoing support from our Volunteer Coordinator and regular check-ins to discuss progress and any concerns. We also offer development opportunities to help volunteers grow personally and build new skills while making a positive impact in our local community.

About The Churn Community Hub
The Churn Community Hub (formerly The Churn Project) has been supporting people across the community in Cirencester and nearby villages since 2001.
Our aims are to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing, particularly for those who are lonely, at a point of crisis or transition in their lives, or experiencing poverty or mental health issues. Our vision is that all our residents are included and involved in their community, feel supported and valued and have the opportunity to achieve their potential. We support over 1,500 people each year, focusing on older people, young families and those who are suffering from mental health, poor wellbeing and social isolation. We offer a mix of one to one support and group activities, catering to different interests and needs.
We work with people to help find practical solutions to the issues they face. Many tell us that coming to The Churn Project improves their wellbeing and makes them feel less isolated.
