Sanctuary Breaks is looking for a hands on and committed Treasurer to be an active member of our friendly team and help take our young charity forward
Sanctuary Breaks is a Stroud-based charity which aims to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of people seeking asylum, refugees and survivors of trafficking or torture by providing opportunities for them to enjoy respite breaks and stays in Hill House, a beautiful family house and large garden in a secluded and delightful location in Amberley near Stroud
We are a relatively new charity with a small team - 3 part-time staff supported by a committed team of volunteers - but have recently had an exciting offer of the gift of ownership of Hill House. So, we now have an ambitious plan to expand our programme and build our staff team and are actively exploring the opportunities and challenges this might create.
With a small but experienced and committed Board of Trustees, we now need to recruit a Treasurer to oversee our financial and accounting processes, both for the charity - Sanctuary Breaks- and also for our trading arm, Hill House Retreats CIC, which provides an income stream from letting out Hill House to groups and individuals for short breaks and events.
We’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to helping people who've been subject to forced migration to feel welcomed and included in our community and who is willing to be hands-on with our budgeting, bookkeeping and accounts as we continue to develop and raise funds to grow our work and our paid staff team.
The work can largely be carried out remotely in-between Board meetings, but with the ability to attend Board meetings and occasional meetings and events at Hill House in Amberley.
