Have you had a stroke and are you looking to do something positive with that experience? ReConnect Gloucestershire is recruiting more volunteers.

Experiencing a stroke can be a life changing experience for many and can lead to feelings of frustration, anger, loss and helplessness. We are seeking a group of Stroke Mentors for an exciting new project in which you will work alongside recent stroke survivors to help them navigate the new world they find themselves facing.

As a stroke survivor yourself, you will provide much needed support and guidance, using your experience to scaffold someone in the weeks following their own stroke. As a positive influence, your own experience can become a lifeline for someone else.

You need to be:

  • a stroke survivor yourself
  • any age from 18 years old
  • kind and patient
  • positive in outlook
  • resilient and committed
  • able to provide weekly support for a block of 6 weeks
