We are looking for new volunteers to join us!

Our volunteers are matched with a family that they visit once a week. Their role is to provide non-judgemental, confidential support when families need it most.

We are looking for new volunteers to join us, with our training starting in January 2027!

At the heart of Home-Start Cotswolds is the belief that parents play the key role in giving their children the best start in life - and that other parents have the experience and understanding to support those families who need help. If you have parenting experience, you'll know just how tough family life can be at times and we are looking for people who have the time and commitment to support a family through a difficult period in their lives.

Our volunteers really do make a difference, one Mum who recently received our home visiting support said...

"I can't put into words what a support my volunteer has been to the family. She just makes life that little bit easier, having a familiar face every week who always finds the positives to help me when I'm struggling."

If you are interested in volunteering with us, our next FREE training course starts in January 2027. Our volunteer preparation course will run in Bourton-on-the-Water on Friday mornings, starting on Friday 22nd January, 9.30am - 1pm for 8 weeks (not including half term 19th Feb).

We are looking for volunteers to join us who have:

  • Parenting experience
  • The desire and compassion to support local families with children aged under 5
  • 2-3 hours per week to visit a family
  • The ability to support a family based in the Cotswold District area on a weekly basis (we have families in various locations such as Bourton-on-the-Water, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Campden, Blockley, The Rissingtons, Northleach, Cirencester, Tetbury, Fairford etc)

If you'd like to find out more, we are holding an 'Information Coffee Morning' on Friday 13th November, 10.30am- 11.30am at The Old Prison Cafe in Northleach. You'll have the opportunity to meet a member of staff and talk to a current volunteer who has recently trained with us.  So we have an idea of numbers, please get in touch if you'd like to join us.

If you can't make it to our Information Morning (or you are reading this once it's passed) please feel free to get in touch to talk through the role and find out more, we'd love to hear from you.

You'll also find more information on our website, including a full role description and our volunteer application form.

Please note: The Home-Start Cotswolds office is based in Cirencester but for these volunteering roles we are looking for new volunteers to support families across the Cotswold area. We would therefore expect applicants to be based within the Cotswolds themselves.

About Home-Start Cotswolds

We are a local charity providing support, friendship and practical help for families with young children in the Cotswold District Council area to steer them through the stresses and strains of life.

Our trained volunteers are parents so they understand how hard it can be to bring up young children. They visit families every week, working alongside parents in their own homes, to help them through the problems they are facing. We also run groups in various locations across the region.

Home-Start volunteers visit families at home each week, supporting parents in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness or disability; some are just finding parenting a real struggle.

All our volunteers have parenting experience. They provide non-judgemental, practical and emotional support and help build the family’s confidence and ability to cope.

Home-Start runs more services, and has more volunteers supporting more families, than any other family support charity in the UK. All local Home-Start schemes, including Home-Start Cotswolds, work under the umbrella of Home-Start UK.
