Detailed description
About the Role
As a Great Western Hearts Heartstarter Volunteer for Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC), you'll play a vital role in delivering life-saving CPR and defibrillator training to young people across the region. You’ll assist with and lead interactive sessions in secondary schools, helping students learn how to respond in a cardiac emergency using the DRSABC approach and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED or Defibrillator).
You’ll work alongside other healthcare professionals and students, sharing your knowledge and passion for emergency care. Your involvement will not only empower others with essential skills but also inspire future generations to consider careers in healthcare. Whether you're a paramedic, nurse, doctor, or medical student, your time and expertise will help build a more resilient and prepared community. Training equipment (manikins, training defibs etc.) are provided by GWAAC and each session is run by a Lead Volunteer or the Public Education Coordinator. All sessions are organised by the Public Education Coordinator.
