 Arrival Time: 9:45am

About the Role

We are looking for a friendly and approachable volunteer to support our monthly Carers Café at Bicky's Café in Coleford.

The café provides an informal opportunity for unpaid Carers to meet others who understand their experiences, enjoy a chat, and access information about local support.

As the volunteer, you will arrive 10 minutes before the session starts to find and reserve a suitable table. Carers will purchase their own drinks and refreshments before joining the group for conversation and peer support.

What You'll Do

  • Welcome Carers attending the café.
  • Help create a warm, friendly, and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Chat with Carers and encourage conversation between attendees.
  • Signpost Carers to support available through Gloucestershire Carers Hub.
  • Share relevant feedback, concerns, or information with the Volunteer Coordinator following the session.
  • Represent the Carers Hub in a positive and professional manner.

What We're Looking For

You will:

  • Be aged 18 or over.
  • Have good listening and communication skills.
  • Be comfortable meeting and talking with a variety of people.
  • Be happy whether the café is busy and lively or quiet.
  • Be reliable and able to attend regularly each month.
  • Be confident using a computer, tablet, or smartphone, as training and volunteer information are provided online.

Training and Support

We will provide:

  • A free DBS check.
  • Carer Aware Training.
  • Ongoing support from the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Access to online training and resources to help you succeed in the role.

Why Volunteer?

This is a rewarding opportunity to:

  • Support unpaid Carers in your local community.
  • Help reduce isolation and loneliness.
  • Gain experience in community engagement and support.
  • Make a meaningful difference with just one hour a month.
