Summary
We run booked tower tours throughout the year and public tours from April to October. Each tour has 2 volunteers - a lead guide and a support helper at the back
Detailed description
The tower has 269 uneven stone steps up a spiral staircase.
Tours last one hour and are paid for so attendance is critical.
Applicants need to be physically fit and have a head for heights as the tour goes out onto the open roof.

The Cathedral is open 365 days a year and was founded over 1000 years ago as a Benedictine Abbey, which we continue to reflect in our hospitality to all.

Volunteers engage in roles as diverse as a front of house friendly face on the Visitor Information Point and Wellwisher area, shop assistant or tower tour guide, to keeping the monuments looking beautiful and helping, vulnerable partners to volunteer and feeding the homeless. Gloucester Cathedral is part of the Church of England but we welcome people regardless of faith, gender or background.
