Volunteer Welcomer
Are you friendly, approachable, and passionate about helping people? We're looking for Volunteer Welcomers to join our team and help create a positive first impression for everyone who visits or contacts our Advice and Resource Centre.
As a Volunteer Welcomer, you'll be one of the first points of contact for people seeking support. You'll help create a warm, welcoming environment, assist people in accessing our services, and provide practical support to our staff team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in customer service, community engagement, and charity work while making a real difference in your local community.
What You'll Be Doing
- Welcoming visitors and helping them feel comfortable and supported.
- Answering telephone calls and directing enquiries appropriately.
- Taking clear and accurate messages for staff members.
- Supporting people to access advice services, emergency support, and community resources.
- Providing information about our services, programmes, and activities.
- Assisting with basic administrative tasks as required.
- Helping maintain a welcoming, safe, and organised environment.
- Working alongside staff and other volunteers as part of a supportive team.
We're Looking For Someone Who Is
- Friendly, approachable, and enjoys meeting people.
- A good communicator with strong listening skills.
- Compassionate and respectful when supporting people from diverse backgrounds.
- Organised and able to manage a variety of tasks.
- Comfortable using a computer and answering telephone calls.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Positive, proactive, and willing to learn.
No previous experience is required – full support, guidance, and training will be provided.

Additional Information
Due to the nature of our work, volunteers in this role may be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
